• Perhaps the best example we have of continuity and transformation in this course is the comparison of Käthe Kollwitz’s drawing of Mother With Dead Child and the pre-Renaissance wooden Pieta that Soltes considered in Lecture 12 and reintroduces here in the last lecture. Fully discuss his statement, supporting it and adding to it, show how continuity is demonstrated and how the centuries have transformed both image and message.
