Reflections on Mental Health

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 1 in 5 Americans lives with a mental disorder or disease. The impact of these diseases and disorders on a person’s life varies from slight to severe. Serious mental illness costs approximately $190 billion dollars in lost earnings each year as well as drastically affecting the quality of life for those affected by it.

Include the following aspects in the assignment:

·  Consider a mental health disease or disorder that impacted you or someone you know.

o  Share as much as you are comfortable sharing. Avoid personal identifying information.

o  Do you feel what you are learning in this course will have an impact on your feelings about this pathology?

o  Do you think there is enough support in the US for people with mental illness? Why or why not?
