Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to provide the student an opportunity to critically explore environmental health issues from selected sociopolitical and ethical-legal perspectives. Students are required to compare and contrast organization, structure, and function of healthcare from an environmental perspective across national and international settings.
Course Outcomes
This assignment provides documentation of student ability to meet the following Course Outcomes.
CO 1: Demonstrate the past and present importance of environmental health and climate change (POs 1 and 3).
CO 2 Analyze the association between population growth and the dissemination of environmental pollutants (POs 1 and 5).
CO 3: Use epidemiological and toxicological methods to assess environmental exposures and hazards (PO 6).
CO 4: Compare and contrast policies that have been developed to manage diverse system health risks associated with exposures to environmental hazards (PO 6).
CO 5: Examine chemical, physical, and microbial agents that originate in the environment and can impact human health (POs 2 and 4).
CO 6: Apply environmental health concepts to fields such as water quality control, food safety, and occupational health (POs 2, 3, and 4).
