Overview

The purpose of this assignment is for you to practice offering informed consent and completing a full psychiatric mental health assessment.

Instructions

To complete your assignment:

In this assignment, you will record a video of yourself giving informed consent and moving through the questions included in a biopsychosocial assessment and mini mental status exam.  The video should only include the image and sound of yourself as you move through the interview. You should imagine that you are meeting with a client for the first time. (You may if you wish, practice with a family member or friend in order to help you move from question to question, however do not include them on the assignment video. Focus the camera on you alone. Your assignment will not be graded if others are present on the video screen.).

To prepare, you should write up a template or script (narrative) of what you will state as informed consent and what order you will move through questions. Research biopsychosocial assessment/psychiatric interview/psychiatric assessment forms and find a flow that feels comfortable to you as you practice before recording. (This will be turned in as your narrative assignment submission this week as well.)

This assignment will help you for the remainder of the program to find a flow for the interview process that works for you. This will also allow you to create good habits of offering effective informed consent to all clients upon initial visit.
