TOPIC OUTLINE

Topic: The evolution of social media

· Introduction

In this part, an introduction to the topic will be done, reasons as to why the topic was chosen will be illustrated, and a thesis to support the topic will be established. The evolution of social media is an important topic to investigate. It would be informative to know the origins of social media, its rapid growth, its commerce and sociological growth, and the overall change to the world.

· Background information

The section illustrates information on the roots of social media. How did it begin? How was social media before 1900? What were the methods of communication at that time? What were social media discoveries made at that time?

· Chronological History of Social Media

In this part, the chronological order of how social media evolved will be covered. From Circa 500 BC, Word War periods, post-war years, the launch of social sites in the 1980s and 1990s, and the modern social media outlets of 2021.

The history of applications will be analyzed and summarized. From Well & GENie, Listverse, chartrooms with the palace, Sixdegrees.com, Moveon.org, Blogging sites, LunarStorm, Wikipedia, Friendster, LastFM, LinkedIn, MySpace, WordPress, Photosharing, Online storage, MMO’s, Proto-Facebook, YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, Tumblr, Friendfeed, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, WeChat, Google+, TikTok to social media of today’s ecosystem.

· Social Media End Users and Businesses

This section will establish a perspective of how the desktop experience shifted from laptops to mobile phones, tablets, and smartphones. How the capabilities of cellular phones expanded to high-speed wireless internet will also be addressed.

Another perspective that will be addressed is how social media evolved from being a social site where users would log in and interact or get informed to being a social media for buying goods and services.

· Impact of social media evolution (the pros and con)

This section will illustrate how the evolution of social media has impacted the world be it positive or adverse effects. How have numerous apps and websites impacted people's lives? Has evolution caused significant problems? What would be the remedy to these problems?

Another perspective in this section would be the analysis of key figures that have been recorded throughout the evolution of social media. How many global users have social media accumulated over the years? Is there a specific media that has recorded more users than the other throughout the evolution? Do indicators suggest more evolution? Do indicators suggest the growth or decline of social media users?

· Future of Social Media and Conclusion

What will happen next to social media? More evolution? Less evolution? More technology? More evolution on social media business model? How will mega and established media look in the future? Is the future uncertain? Is the future certain? Will social media be crowded? These questions will be answered in this section and will determine the next stage of social media's evolution.

For this module, we'll be fleshing out your work from previous weeks to complete a rough draft of your final project. You have already identified your topic and the sources for your project.

Now it's time to get it all ready. This week, you should spend more time researching information that is related to your topic selection. Depending on your topic, you should be able to provide the following:

0. An overview of the topic

0. An in-depth, and specific aspect of your topic (If you chose social media and marketing, you could pose an argument such as: Facebook and Twitter are more effective than TV commercials). Whatever you chose, be sure to have extensive supporting evidence that is cited in APA format

0. Current trends relating to your topic

0. How your chosen type of social media topic impacts or influences people, with examples

0. Previous research on your selected topic, if applicable

Then it's time to put it together!

This course is all about social media, so your project should be creative and reflective of components of the course. Select one of the following ways to complete your final project:

0. PowerPoint

0. YouTube/Video

0. Movie

0. Brochure/Pamphlet

0. Song

0. SlideShare

0. Interview Form

0. Podcast Form

0. Live Social Media Feed

There will be the option to present your project to your instructor and class next week in the live classroom, so begin thinking about if this is something you'd like to do.
