1. What are the four (4) components of a healthy diet? Be sure to explain each of the four components.
2. Name one (1) function of each of the following macronutrients: Fats, Protein, and Carbohydrates.
3. Discuss how a long-term deficiency and/or excess in each of the above-mentioned macronutrients affects overall health.
4. There are many micronutrients involved in fluid balance (electrolytes) and protection from oxidation (antioxidants). Name three (3) micronutrients and discuss what each of them does in terms of overall health.
5. Describe how a long-term imbalance of micronutrients could affect one’s health. What happens if there is a deficiency? What happens if there is an excess?
6. Discuss the importance of physical activity in terms of energy intake. How can your subject balance their physical activity with their energy intake? How much physical activity does your subject need each day to maintain a healthy body weight? What are some ways that your subject can stay active?
