1. Constraint, Assumption & Challenges:Minimum 2 pages per section (Font size 12, Time New Roman, double space)
In general, any assumptions we make just need to be stated, with reasons. Constraints need to be differentiated between externally imposed vs internally accepted. If we are imposing any, then we need to justify them. For example, we are going to say that based on the differences between designing a system for new construction vs existing homes, we are choosing to focus on new construction for purposes of the BMC. The reason is that the simulation model requires an hour-by-hour expected usage of heat for an entire year. We will not be able to easily get this from homeowners, but Ed explained that he has data for a given home design.
2. Channels:Minimum 3 pages per section (Font size 12, Time New Roman, double space)
Channels serve several functions including:
· Raising awareness among customers about a company's products and services
· Helping customers evaluate a company's Value Proposition
· Allowing customers to purchase specific products and services
· Delivering a Value Proposition to customers
· Providing post-purchase customer support
The channel types include Own vs Partner, and can be either Direct or Indirect.
The direct approach includes a sales force & web sales, while indirect includes Own stores, Partner Stores and Wholesaler.
The Channel Phases are:
1. Awareness
2. Evaluation
3. Purchase
4. Delivery
5. After Sales
The general idea we spoke about with regard to the channel derives from our choice of market segment. While we agree that we will narrow our initial focus to residential, as opposed to commercial, it is useful to include a few lines about the commercial channel and how this differs from residential with regard to heating & energy systems.
A few key points include:
Complexity, dependencies, scale. For example, proposing a solution for a school involves several other layers of presentation and approval, as well as a much larger system than one for a house.
