Discuss how you would make a determination about a person being disabled from their mental illness or required an emotional support animal due to their mental illness. What types of symptoms would you assess? And how would you assess them? What assessment tools would you use? How would you determine the length of time for the disability and/or emotional support animal? 

Would you currently feel comfortable completing a disability request for a patient? Why or why not? What would help you feel more confident about completing a psychiatric disability evaluation?

1. Describe the patient education you would give to a client about the ACEs questionnaire assessment tool. Discuss the pros and cons of using the ACEs questionnaire in practice. Discuss ways the ACEs could impact treatment decisions and recommendations for clients.

1. What challenging patient encounters do you think you might encounter as a psychiatric NP? What are your concerns about the encounter? How do you think you will try to manage that type of encounter? What are the pros and cons of managing a challenging encounter in the way you proposed?
