and write a 12-15 page paper excluding graphs and citations that explores at least 4 themes or topics that have been presented throughout the course using examples that are presented in the book you have selected. You will have to support your writing with additional citations where needed. THIS IS NOT A BOOK REPORT OR SUMMARY OF THE BOOK. The assignment requires that you synthesize the information presented in the book and provide an analysis of the material covered in class using examples from the book. I invite anyone who would like to complete this extra assignment to visit me during office hours with an outline of your proposed paper and we can discuss it. You may turn the assignment in at any point during the semester. Assignments will be submitted via Blackboard. This extra credit assignment can increase the final grade for the course by up to a letter grade. For example, if you are running a B average in the course this paper could bring your grade in the course up to an A. Completion of the extra credit assignment does not guarantee that your final grade will be raised by a letter grade; this will depend on the quality of the work.
