Response-90 word2parrentMarianne Boretz wrote:Discuss either Munro’s mother or father. What impressions do you have of their character? How do your impressions change? In "Dear Life", Munro doesn't really say much about her father. She mentions how he came from a farm life in his younger days, and decided to invest in a fox farm when he got older. He's mentioned as the one who delivered the punishments when she misbehaved. It seems as if he and Munro barely spent time together. He seemed more as a standoffish sort of father, who didn't really acknowledge his children. In "Boys and Girls", Munro talks more about her father. She describes him as a hard working man, who was all business. In this essay, she tells of how she spent more time around her father and his work, than inside the house with her mother. Munro's father even displays a sense of pride in regards to his daughter and all the help she provides for him when he refers to her as his "hired man". It seems as though Munro's father wants to teach his daughter the value hard work, and treats her as he would a son.It is not until the end of the written work that a different side of his character comes out. At first he seems indifferent towards his daughter, then he seems proud, and in the end when he says "She's only a girl", he seems boarder line sexist. Claiming that Munro did what she did and cried because she is of a female gender. Here the indifferent father and the accepting father becomes a condescending man; living up to the expectations of how a man thought about girls.Response90 wordI think that his father was the same in both stories, task oriented, doing his own thing, working hard, providing for his family and quiet. However in  “Dear life “ The author refers to her mother as a woman that never look like she was belong to the farm, a woman that change her clothes twice a day , and was taking care of her a little bit more, and eve got her beauty sleep nap; at the contrary, in “boys and girls “ she refers to her mother as a woman that has not time to get her hair done, that is more less concern about her appearance due to amount of work that she does at home.Resposne90 word“don't write about what I know: I write in order to find out what I know”....  I think that’s the shorter answer to that question, I think that when she refers to sister Olive, she uses a great deal of imagination to create the story, But when she talks about Mary Katheryne she seems to exactly know what is she talking about, she knows that she in fact had change her name, and little details. It seems to be more factual story.“don't write about what I know: I write in order to find out what I know”....  I think that’s the shorter answer to that question, I think that when she refers to sister Olive, she uses a great deal of imagination to create the story, But when she talks about Mary Katheryne she seems to exactly know what is she talking about, she knows that she in fact had change her name, and little details. It seems to be more factual story. She also refers to the piano lesson as her draft, or like a door that opens up so that she can continue to create the story that she wish to tell.I just couldn’t understand if Marie Katherine was real or was someone that she was creating and therefore seems to be more clearly described?Resposne90 wordI totally agree with Ana. Hampl's, descriptions seemed more authentic, more real life when she described Mary Katherine Reily. When she described sister Olive, i couldn't really put a face to her. All i could imagine was literally a walking olive. Ana Grisalessuarez wrote: Marianne Boretz wrote: What significance does Hampl finally discover in the story of Sister Olive Marie and Mary Katherine Reilly?  Why have these images lingered in Hampl's memory?      I think that when she refers to sister Olive, she uses a great deal of imagination to create the story, But when she talks about Mary Katheryne she seems to exactly know what is she talking about, she knows that she in fact had change her name, and little details. Patient confidentiality is an immensely serious matter. For this reason, HEART OFFICE desperately needs a security overhaul. They need to implement a much stricter information privacy policy. The idea of every employee having access to the database is questionable. I believe only certain, key employees should have access to the information on the patient database. That is some of the most sensitive information HEART OFFICE has, and it should be regarded as such. Not downloading anything from the Internet is a great idea, however I think HEART OFFICE should go one step further. Company computers should only be used for company purposes. There should not be problems dealing with downloads because Internet browsing should not be occurring during company time. If there is a need to search something on the Internet then it could be permissible. However, Internet activity should be logged and monitored for accountability.  Having said that, the training of new hires is a must. Human error and ignorance is a security risk that easily causes breaches in systems. With proper training, error prone risks are minimized. If HEART OFFICE had a security training program implemented in the first place, there's a good chance they would not be dealing with credit card authorization problems. No matter the industry, data and information are coveted assets that need constant protection. Security risks will always pose threats to businesses using information technology. Thus, security will always be an important factor to a company's success.Response-80 wordAs technology continues to grow at a rapid pace, so do the threats that are related to its growth. Threats, such as the hacking, and  misuse of personal information stored in private databases. As a company establishes itself, one of the vital areas that should be prioritized, is the creation of a security policy to protect the privacy of its clientele, and company information. The need to create such policies is based on the constantly evolving schemes that hackers, (experts in technology who uses their knowledge to break into computers, and computer networks), and cybercriminals engineer. At the very core of this policy should be a mandatory educational workshop of some sort to help educate employees on the seriousness involved with such threats. There should also be included in this policy, certain security features, such as firewalls, gates and guards. Although sometimes costly, the company could benefit from encrypting data and creating different layers of protection to ensure that data remains safe even if there were to be a breach into the system. The best and probably most practical security feature that should be included in the policy, is to limit the authorization of sensitive information to only personnel with the proper credentials.
