You know that CEOs make a lot of money, and that they are an important component of organizational leadership. However, the recent economic downturn saw some organizations take government bailouts at taxpayer expense, lay off employees, and still give large bonuses to shareholders and/or CEOs. The question is: are they worth it? Look at the O*net profile for chief executives (Use those words in an occupation keyword search) to inform your answers to the following questions: Are CEOs paid too much, or are they worth the high compensation packages they receive? Is it ethical or fair that a CEO receives a bonus when employees are being laid off or having their benefits reduced?Does high compensation for CEOs actually increase company performance? Remember, in your answers it must be obvious that you have gone to the O*Net (so, include some information from there in your answers). Response-80 wordCEOs in the United States are paid too much, often way too much. The O*Net indicates that the median income for CEOs is $82.50 an hour or $171,610 per year. Please note that that is a median figure, 50% of the CEOs are making more than that, and those figures do not include bonuses and stock options and expense accounts and all sorts of benefits. By comparison, according to the O*Net, production workers, the people who actually produce something, make $11.13 hourly or $23,160 annual, which is about 13% of what the CEO makes. Even though the welfare of the CEO depends on the work of the production workers, the production workers do not get the bonuses and stock options and other perks. It is not fair or ethical that some people, e.g. CEOs, are grossly overpaid in relation to their contributions to the working of the company while other employees, the producers, are grossly underpaid. The AFL-CIO has published data on the compensation of the CEOs of Standard and Poor 500 Index companies. Those CEOs earn 354 times as much as the average workers in the company. It is very difficult to imagine a contribution by a CEO that could be 354 times worth the contribution of individual workers. By contrast, the top Japanese CEOs make 67 times what the average worker makes, the top Swedish CEOs make 89 times the average worker compensation, the top Polish CEOs make 28 times the average worker compensation. There do not seem to be any solid empirical studies that show that a high CEO-to-worker pay ratio improves company performance. Companies generally try to hide their CEO-to-worker pay ratios; they do not try to say that their performance is better because they overpay the CEO. Actually, the economic inequality caused by the gross overpayment of the people at the top is bad for the economy because the disposal income and wealth is increasingly concentration in fewer and fewer consumers’ hands, which is not enlightened capitalism, and the economic inequality leads to a de-motivation of workers who can see that their purchasing power has been declining for many years while the number of millionaires and billionaires has been rising. AFL-CIO. Being a CEO requires advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities that are vital for the successful accomplishment of CEO tasks. According to O*NET Online (2014), the job requires social perceptiveness, coordination, critical thinking, management of financial resources, complex problem-solving, judgment and decision-making among others. Such CEOs require high pay because they ensure the maintenance of strongly performing companies. Adequate pay gives them the incentive to perform their roles effectively in directing and coordinating the organization’s activities, presiding over board meetings, directing human resource activities, analyzing operations, implementing policies, and corrective action plans for solving the organization’s problems. Despite the important role CEOs play in companies, it is not ethical for them to receive bonuses while organization employees are laid off or have their benefits reduced. The organization’s success depends on all its members; they should all receive fair pay and benefits in reference to their job levels and roles. It is also unfair because it is the CEO that presides over board meetings involving decision-making on organization decisions such as the reduction of pay or layoffs (O*NET Online, 2014). The CEO is likely to make biased decisions at the expense of other employees. Since the CEO has the skill of management of financial resources, he/she should ensure effective use of money in salaries and benefits. The high compensation of CEOs improves company performance by incentivizing CEOs to increase the efficiency of their activities and performance. However, the activities of other employees are also vital in ensuring company profits and progress. Thus, the company must focus on providing incentives for salary and benefits increase. Compensating the CEO instead of other employees is not a strategically wise move. However, the fair compensation of both the employees and CEO ensures the company benefits from the overall increase in dedication to the achievement of company goals. References O*NET Online. (2014). In your initial discussion post, please explain the working and details of the protocol clearly (no copy+paste). Wikipedia is not acceptable. When responding to someone’s post, please provide any missing details of the protocol that was explained, with particular emphasis on attacks/limitations of the protocol.Response-80 wordWEP stands for Wired Equivalent Privacy. It is /was the standard wireless security. WEP was introduced in 1997 as part of the 802.11 protocol. WEP Protocol calls for a WEP Keys to be assigned to network devices. WEB Keys can be chosen by the network administrator or automatically generated by software applications. The WEP key must be set on all devices attaching to the wireless network. WEP keys make it possible for encrypted messages to be sent to other devices on the local network. WEP encrypts each packet separately with a RCA Cipher Stream. All data frames are sent by a router in a WEP protected network are encrypted. The length of the WEB key depends on the type or web security you are using. There are two options when using WEP encryption, 64-bit and 128 bit. WEP technology was considered not very secure and has been replace with a newer standard WPA2.
