Analyzing Aircraft Maintenance Associated with Human Factors in Naval AviationAbstractThe purpose of the project is to identify ways to improve naval aviation safety through research and analysis of aircraft maintenance and how it correlates with the human factor. Aircraft maintenance is crucial to everyday operations to prevent loss in flight hours for pilots to maintain proficiency, ensuring the safety of personnel aboard, extending the life of the aircraft, and be mission-ready at all times. However, poor maintenance can result in mishaps if proper maintenance is not conducted correctly, leading to complacency, which can also contribute to the loss of an operational aircraft needed for combat operations. The scope of the research will focus on all elements of aircraft maintenance relating to naval flight operations throughout the naval fleet. Possible factors such as scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, qualifications, pilot training requirements, and accident rates will be evaluated. Through critical thinking research, the researcher will also assess how the influence of human factors such as maintainer dependency, complacency, pilot error, and mode of failure has played in the effectiveness of aircraft maintenance.
