1. Explore the CMS Hospital Compare website (www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov) and review the data for each measurement category. Which performance measures in these categories are most important to consumers of health care services? Which performance measures are least important to consumers? Are consumers using the data on the CMS site to select a hospital? What other factors may influence consumer choice?
2. Many examples of improvement projects conducted by health care organizations can be found on the Internet. Find an example of each type of project: PDSA, rapid cycle improvement, FOCUS-PDCA, FADE, Lean, and Six Sigma. What is similar about each project? What is different about each project?
