Assignment: Description: It has been demonstrated that the prevalence of metabolic syndrome is increasing worldwide, and for the adult population is estimated to be about 20 to 25%, largely due to several factors such as ageing of the population, increasing life expectancy and obesity, sedentary lifestyle and inadequate nutrition. The presence of metabolic syndrome increases the risk of cardiovascular events (not just the disease) two-fold and the risk of developing diabetes mellitus type-II by five-fold. Patients with metabolic syndrome require unique considerations when exploring the possibility of prescribing exercise. 

Discuss the clinical criteria for a patient being diagnosed with metabolic syndrome. Invariably, as an exercise professional you will encounter a patient with metabolic syndrome. What considerations would you take into account when prescribing exercise for these patients?
