As mentioned in Module 1, your Final Project Management Plan is due at the end of this module. You will create this plan using theProject Management Plan Template, which you can download here:Project Management Plan Template

After you have opened the template on your desktop, you should notice a distinct difference between this template and the plan that you saw earlier in the term. This template includes directions and, in one section, sample language for completing your project plan.

Create a Final Project Management Plan using the Project Management Plan Template by inserting or attaching the results from your graded and revised assignments, such as the subsidiary plans and baselines from Assignments 2-7 to your Project Management Plan. The Project Management Plan template indicates where these should be inserted or attached.

Submit your Final Project Management Plan to the Final PM Plan Dropboxno later than Sunday 11:59 PM EST/EDT. When you save your document, please make sure it includes the format: “Firstname Lastname -Final PM Project"

To use the template, first include your project title and the date the project is due. Following down the page, you will see headings in bold and instructions or suggestions in blue lettering. The information in blue provides suggestions of inputs into the plan (especially when you can use a former assignment as an input). Pleasedelete the blue letteringonce you have filled in the section with your information (type your information in black). Under the Project Management Approach section, you should also see some sample language in italics. Replace both the blue lettering and the information in italics with your own personal approach for this project.

For the rest of the plan, simply keep all bold headers and include the necessary information to complete that section. The preferred method is to insert information in paragraph or bulleted form. You can also insert charts, graphs, or other visuals into the plan. If you have trouble inserting a particular form or section from a previous assignment, you can submit it as an attachment to the plan; however, you must indicate this in the appropriate section. Please keep attachments to a minimum and be sure to contact the instructor via class email (prior to the due date) if you have any further questions or challenges in creating the plan.

Introduction:

The Introduction provides a high-level overview of the project. Look back at the Project Charter (Assignment 3) for information to include in this section for a high-level overview of the project.

Project Management Approach

This section is where you outline the overall management approach for the project. You should write it as an Executive Summary for the Project Management Plan.

Example: The Project Manager, <Project Manager Name> has the overall authority and responsibility for managing and executing this project according to this Project Plan and it Subsidiary Management Plans. The project team will consist of personnel from <Project Team Staffing Source>. The following performance measurement baselines will be used a basis for determining project variances and are included in this plan: 1) the scope baseline (Scope Statement, WBS, and WBS Dictionary); 2) cost performance baseline; and 3) project schedule baseline.

Project-Specific Considerations:

This may include specific information about the environment, stakeholders (include Stakeholder Management Strategy from Assignment 3), product integration, or any other aspects of the project that warrant special attention.

Project Schedule:

This section provides a general framework for the approach that you will take to create the project schedule. This includes the scheduling tool/format, schedule milestones, and schedule development roles and responsibilities. Use the following bold headers as a guide. Use information from Assignment 5 and Assignment 6 related to schedule.

Overview of Scheduling Tools/Approach

Major Milestones/Phases of the Project

Roles and Responsibilities for Schedule Development:

As you create the project schedule, it is important that boundary conditions are set by the project sponsor to establish the schedule parameters within which the project is expected to operate. Any event that may potentially cause a schedule change that exceeds these boundary conditions must have a schedule change request submitted and approved by the sponsor before the schedule change takes place. For this example, we will use a change threshold of 10%.

Communications Management Plan:

Insert or attach from Assignment 7

Baselines:

Be certain to include project baselines. This includes the scope baseline (Scope Statement, WBS, and WBS Dictionary) and the schedule/cost performance baseline.
