What does the government “owe” the average American citizen?

As many people are frustrated with government over unemployment, lower wages, and difficulty in obtaining health care, etc. What does our government owe that average citizen?

• Use the switch to universal healthcare as a case study for your arguments.

o Identify the new healthcare law and requirements

o Is healthcare a “right” for citizens, or a service by physicians requiring proper payment?

• Should the government be in the “business” of creating jobs, is that their function in a capitalist society?
• Where is the balance between what we want from government and our debt load?
• Contrast the services provided, and their costs, compared to what governments in other countries provide their citizens?
