Nuclear Waste Water Extra Credit

One of the great things about this class is learning about energy and the environment in real-time! Japan is planning to release more than 1 million metric tons of filtered wastewater associated with decommissioning plans for the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Remember the one that melted down in 2011???

WATCH the news report, read the article, and/or do your own research on plans for the release of the wastewater. Use our Cohen Framework guidelines to  WRITE a short essay on how this topic relates to each of the "Cohen" issues (i.e., how is this an issue of values? how is this an issue of science/tech? how is this an economic issue? etc.) Your short essay will count as a laboratory assignment. Specifically, it will count as a lab assignment that you haven't done OR replace your lowest laboratory grade.

Here's think to the video and news article:  https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/19/asia/japan-fukushima-disaster-wastewater-fishing-concerns-hnk-dst-dg-intl/index.html
