Journalism Critique Workshop

Choose a piece of journalism to analyze and critique. The journalism piece can be digital (video, audio) or traditional writing (newspapers). The piece can also be from any time. The critique should be written in full paragraph form with a thesis, body, and conclusion). Stating/introducing the piece of journalism in question should happen by the end of the first paragraph. Also, make sure not to deviate too far from the source material in question--we should know your authorial voice and standpoint on the journalism piece in question from the parts of summary and quotes.

 

Criteria worth considering for the analysis:

-Publication/author credibility

-Owner/funding of publication 

-Political leanings/bias

-Reveal/"upfrontness" of bias

-Contrast of other reporting

-Retrospective analysis/hindsight (What do we know now? Is the event still unfolding?)

-Author's other publications
