In the aftermath of the Korean War, a small series of Islands known as Dokdo to the Koreans and Takishima to the Japanese became a source of political tensions and nationalistic pride. Both nations now claim the small, largely uninhabitable as their own and appear to be on a political and potential military collision course over their control. After reading both perspectives from “The Issue of Takeshima by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs” at http://www.mofa.go.jp/region/asia-paci/takeshima/index.html and South Korea’s “Dokdo Research Institute” http://www.dokdohistory.com/?stype=2&sidx=68 which country do you think offers the most compelling argument for “ownership” and why?
