They were the largest photo printing company til the early 90s. Kodak failed and filed for bankruptcy in 2012 for the following reasons:

- Was overcome by Fuji and failed to adjust to competition.

- Failed to capitalize on digital camera as soon as they came out.

- Failed to adapt to shifting market - social media and smartphone reduced demand for print photo.

- Ventured into expensive printers when print needs were minimizing.
