Health care leaders, like nurses, are doing their part in addressing the social determinants of health. Health care leaders have been progressively shifting towards increasing health equity and addressing the paradigm shift towards population health by attending to the the social determinants of health. The nurse role in developing strategies to improve the health of the person/community during this pandemic and in the future includes proper assessment and prioritization of needs in order to implement effective plans which will help to increase the overall health status of the individual and the community. The nurse should also focus on upstream factors rather than downstream factors. in other words, the nurse should focus most of the attention toward prevention, by health promotion.
