Research the effects of aging on skeletal muscle. Pick one effect and discuss why it happens and what you think a person might be able to do, if there is anything, to delay this effect.

White Matter Growth

As brains mature, the white matter in the cerebrum grows. Watch the very short (6 second) video here:

This shows brain development from about 5 years of age through about 20 years of age. It comes from MRI images. We can see, based on this video, that the amount of gray matter diminishes and the amount of white matter grows throughout development.

Discuss this growth and what it means. Also, if brains are still developing at 20 years of age, discuss your feelings on teenage behavior and choice-making. Are teen brains fully developed?

Think of a specific sensation that you might notice on a part of your body. Write about this sensation and discuss how you feel this sensation. Then, trace the probable sensory pathway. Why is it important that you can feel this sensation?
