To prepare for writing your narrative essay that is due in Week 2, make sure to read the lesson and textbook assignment for this week. Your topic must adhere to one of the following three options:

A recent and powerful one-on-one moment with your mother, father, sibling, child, significant other, or close friend that impacted you profoundly

A special or powerful moment during the COVID-19 pandemic

A unique moment you have shared with an animal (your pet or another animal) recently

Then, complete the following:

Access the Narrative Essay Planning Template and the Week 1 Assignment Sample (in the Required Resources area for this activity).

Carefully review both documents, and write your responses directly on the template, following all instructions regarding length of answer and task at hand.

Write in complete sentences and paragraphs (where specified). Be sure to check your responses for depth of information, clear style, and proper mechanics (spelling, grammar, and punctuation).

Review the planning template carefully several times, proofreading, editing, and checking for precision of thought and topic/approach.

Save the file with your last name and assignment title (e.g., "Smith_Narrative Essay Planning Template").

Submit the assignment as a Word (.docx) file.

Note: You may also choose a subject that you do not yet know, have not yet visited, or have yet to attend, but you must be able to observe and/or visit your chosen topic and write about your experiences before the assignment due date. In other words, real, close, personal observation is a requirement of this assignment.
