This assignment builds on the work you did in Weeks 6 and 7, during which you drafted and received instructor and peer feedback on your full five-paragraph essay: introduction paragraph, three body paragraphs, and conclusion paragraph.

After reviewing the textbook readings and the lesson, and using your own skills, your instructor's feedback, and your peers' feedback as a guide, revise your five-paragraph essay, using techniques for revision at all levels, from global to word level.

Please employ this checklist to make sure you have completed the requirements.

A successful essay draft will include the following.

Introduction paragraph

Hooks the reader with an engaging beginning, contains relevant material to familiarize the reader with your purpose and topic, and a clear thesis that conveys the main idea/purpose

3 full, rich body paragraphs, each using the PIE method (Point, Illustrations, Explanation). This means:

Clear points/topic sentences that use transition and directly support your thesis while also clearly conveying the topic of the paragraph

Specific supporting details (illustrations/examples) in each body paragraph that support your point, making sure to include transitional techniques for flow between sentences

A brief explanation of how the supporting details are relevant to your purpose

Conclusion paragraph

Reiterates the purpose of the essay without restating the thesis word-for-word

Leaves the reader with a powerful impression via a look to the bigger picture
