People are heavily dependent on computer networks in the technology era. You may not think about the dependency on the network. In general, this is because reliability is not an issue. Think of how frustrated you were the last time you had network connectivity issues. There are many types of networks and components in making them work. Imagine you are a network engineer and are charged with assessing the reliability of your company’s various networks. Some of the network types to review are the following:

• Personal area network (PAN)
• Local area network (LAN)
• Wireless area network (WAN)
• Metropolitan area network (MAN)

 Then, discuss the following:

• What are the two network types that you would choose? Why?
• What is the impact of poor network design on individuals and businesses?
