The Consideration of Racial Socialization in parent training with African American Families Journal of Child and Family Studies, 13(3), 277-293.

Purpose

This class can only touch on special populations within the child/adolescent focus. This assignment gives you an opportunity to review some of the literature on a topic that you would like more information on. For example, you may want to know more about a specific culture, a sexual minority group, children in military families, or children impacted by immigration enforcement. You will want to look for articles that involve some aspect of mental health.

Task

Find one peer reviewed article about a special populations of children. Write a brief summary (can be bullet points) on considerations for clinical work with this population. Reply to one peer about the topic they posted.

Students are expected to demonstrate proper "netiquette" – be professional, considerate, and respectful, avoid sarcasm, and do not share comments with anyone outside the class. Students need to post one substantive response to the discussion question/s posted by the instructor AND one to the postings of a classmate.
