You can address Big Data in support of manufacturing, but any use of data science is acceptable.  You will see the term "smart manufacturing" often applied to this area of research.

For this assignment, you are required to research the benefits as well as the challenges associated with Data Science in support of a manufacturing process.  You can choose any type of product, so please try to focus on a single type of product, not manufacturing in general.  Examples could be automobiles, aircraft, computers, smart phones, heavy equipment, ships.
