My name is Charles L. Sessions, I am a new computer science professor at Columbia Southern University. I encourage everyone to feel free to discuss topics related to Management Information Systems here. Also, reach out and say hello to your cohorts and tell us about yourself. I'm sure we may find ourselves discussing common interests as well as goals during this course.

Part II: Think of a company that you currently or previously worked for or one that you are familiar with, and describe the tools used for collaboration and teamwork. Do you believe these collaboration tools are satisfactory? Why, or why not? Recommend some other tools that would work great.

Essential Social Media Privacy Issues for 2020.

A recent study by the Pew Trust indicated that 80 percent of social media users are concerned with businesses and advertisers accessing and using their social media posts. These growing privacy concerns have prompted advocacy for tighter regulations. Some privacy advocates say it may already be too late for safeguards.

Many of you own a Google email account, but did you know about the volume and types of information you share? For instance, Google owns a service called "Takeout." It stores all kinds of private information. Perhaps without you knowing it.

Were you able to log into the site and export your data? If your were unsuccessful, ask for help in this forum. Also, discuss what you discovered and the types of information stored on the Google Takeout site. Has your opinion changed regarding online privacy? What are the lessons to be learned here?

Wearable technology has the potential to change the way organizations conduct business and the way people conduct their day-to-day activities. If you already use a wearable device, identify the make and model, and discuss the reasons why you use wearable technology. Do you find it helpful? Why, or why not? If you do not use a wearable device, identify one you would use, and explain why. Considering our last discussion regarding Google Takeout, is wearable technology beneficial or another privacy concern?

How much do you rely on communications? When you answer this, consider the number of text messages, phone calls, and e-mails you have either sent or received in the last 24 hours from your computer or smartphone. Is the number any different from one of the days from last week? Do you think you could refrain from sending or receiving any of these types of communication for a day? Why, or why not? How reliant are you on telecommunications? Explain.

The opening case in Chapter 12, "Big Data and the Internet of Things Drive Precision Agriculture," demonstrates how the effective use of data analytics can help employees and managers at all levels, in many different industries, make better decisions. Using Purdue's University College of Agriculture as an example, discuss how you think this technology could help U. S. farmers. For example, how can this technology help farmers in your area or state who use underground aquifers to water their crops more efficiently?
