Crisis Policy

Talk to a social worker (or another social service provider/supervisor) at your field placement or place of employment (non profit, hospital, clinic, school, private practice) to determine what policies are in place in case of a crisis, i.e., a client who gets angry and violent, threats, school issues such as safety concerns, homicide threats, threats of suicide, disasters (manmade, environmental and natural).

In your original post, answer the following questions (be succinct!):

• If plans are in place how would you as an intern or employee find out about policies? Briefly describe the current policies.

• After you have gathered the information, ask yourself: would you make changes to the current policy, or do you see things that are not addressed at the agency?

• How do the policies in place address (or not address)  worker safety and self-care?
