Think back over your experience to a time when a misdiagnosis may have had serious consequences to a patient. Research the disease and discuss it. What are the clinical manifestations? Complete a Physical Assessment Video Recording

After you have achieved at least 80% on the Comprehensive Assessment download, save and upload your LabPass document to the dropbox. Both the Lab Pass document and the video recording of the physical assessment must be uploaded in module 8 Dropbox.

Physical Assessment

Apart from the ShadowHealth© Comprehensive Assessment, you will complete a physical assessment of the virtual patient "Tina". Note: You need to practice these exercises, multiple times, to become familiar with the process and become proficient in your assessment skills, before you actually record yourself.

Using a camera on a smart phone, tablet or the free version of www.zoom.us or www.screencast-o-matic.com record yourself showing your state issues ID or passport for student verification and performing a complete physical assessment on "Tina" in ShadowHealth®, then upload that video recording file to the Dropbox.

Please note: To complete the entire Comprehensive Assessment Assignment may take you 2-3 hours, but you will only record the physical assessment of the seven body systems listed below, so you will not select of all of the element listed on the comprehensive assessment menu. You may need to practice a few times before recording yourself and do not start the recording until you are actually on the screen where you can start the body system checks.

Think of it like this: When we go into our patient's room after shift change, we complete a head-to-toe physical assessment of our patient, which usually consists of us talking to them while assessing and doing our checks: listening to the lung sounds, heart sounds, checking capillary refills, bowel sounds, PERRLA & neurological checks, distended jugular...etc. Is the patient alert and oriented x3? Do they have pain or are they distressed? Any complaints?

The video recording usually is approximately approximately 20 minutes in length, and should include a physical assessment for the following systems:

-HEENT

-Respiratory

-Cardiovascular

-Gastrointestinal

-Musculoskeletal

-Neurological

-Skin, Hair, and Nails

Below are instructions on how to upload your video to Youtube:

Sign in/Sign Up to YouTube. (if you have a Gmail Account you can use that information for your Youtube Channel)

At the top of the page, click Upload.

Select Upload video.

Before you start uploading the video, you can choose the video privacy settings.

Select the video you'd like to upload from your computer. You can also import a video from Google Photos.

As the video is uploading, you can edit both the basic information and the advanced settings of the video and decide if you want to notify subscribers (if you uncheck this option, no communication will be shared with your subscribers). Partners will also be able to adjust their Monetization settings. You can have a title up to 100 characters and a description up to 5,000 characters.

Click Publish to finish uploading a public video to YouTube. If you set the video privacy setting to Unlisted, just click Done to finish the upload or click Share to privately share your video.

If you haven’t clicked Publish, your video won’t be viewable by other people. You can always publish your video at a later time in your Video Manager.

Once your video is successfully Uploaded copy the link to a Microsoft Word Document and save it. Submit the document into the Dropbox and notify your instructor once it is successfully Uploaded.
