I need four abstracts total here are the name of the chapters to relate to.Chapter 12:  Child and Preadolescent Nut.Chapter 13: Conditions and InterventionsChapter 14:  Adolescent NutritionChapter 15:  Conditions and InterventionsNutrition in the Lifecycle Virtual Abstract Assignment Guidelines         Each person is responsible for reading and abstracting a series of nutrition related article for each unit, for a total of 16 abstracts.   Each unit will require one abstract per chapter. These articles are to be related to the material that is being covered in each chapter, so your abstract title should relate to the chapter title for which you are submitting it.  The articles chosen are to be from sources published after Jan. 2010 and you may select two articles per publication. You will need to select articles from 8 or more different publications/internet sites, you may only use a (specific date) magazine/internet site one (1) time. If you turn in two abstracts from the same magazine/internet site (same date), only one abstract will be counted for grading purposes. The body of the abstract should contain the main thought of the article, written in summary form.  All abstracts are to be submitted electronically through the link provided in the "Homework" section.  The most efficient method is to do your abstract in word and then submit the word file as an attachment.   You may not be able to mark your headings in bold if you submit directly through Blackboard.  This will result in the loss of points for each abstract.  The articles chosen are to be from sources published since January 1 of 2010 .  You may select only two articles per publication and they are not to be from the same issue.  This means that you will need to select articles from eight or more different publications and you may only use each magazine/internet site two (2) times.  The body of the abstract should contain the main thought of the article, written in summary form and the last line or two of the abstract should be your assessment of the information presented in the article.  You must provide enough information regarding the article that your instructor can determine you read the article, not just a summary of the article.  It helps to include some specific data/facts from the article in your summary. Sources of articles may be magazines or internet sites. List the publication in the following manner (this is the only acceptable format).  Note that the headings are in bold type and should appear in the same manner when you submit your abstract. Not following this format will cost you points.  Be sure to include the headings in your abstract! Abstract Form (8 headings to be in bold type and included on each abstract)Author:     Title:      Publication or Internet Site:      Date:      Volume or Issue.Body: your summary of the information in the article...include enough information from the article to demonstrate an understanding of the contentAssessment: your opinion of the information in the articleChapter Tie:  how does the content of this abstract tie into the content found in the chapter to which it is associatedScoring/Evaluation:   2 points  Topic: nutrition and subject related                                                            2 points  Content and Structure:  (includes personal assessment, format, spelling, grammar, etc.)  1 point Chapter Tie: how does the abstract tie to the chapter     5 points per abstract Information:1.  If no author is listed by the magazine/site, then state "No Author" when doing your abstract. For Volume or issue, if none are listed you should list the month  in which the article was published.  For articles taken from the internet, you must supply a url. 2.  Newspapers, newsletters, books and pamphlets are acceptable sources of information for abstracts for this class.3.  Abstracts  2,4,6,8, and 10 are to come from recognized professional publications. At the top of the page for each of these abstracts, you are to type PROFESSIONAL on the line before you type the information regarding the source from which this abstract came. If you have a question regarding whether or not a publication will qualify for a professional publication, ASK.  As a general rule, if a publication is available over the counter or by mail to the general public it will not qualify as a professional source.  Professional publications are generally associated with membership in a professional society/organization and are peer reviewed publications with footnotes and sources listed with the article.  If you submit an abstract that is not from a professional publication for one of these abstracts, you will receive "0" points and not offered the opportunity to redo the abstract.4.  In each of the following sections, you are to include the following:Body:   This is your summary of the article.  It is to contain the main points of the article and should represent what the authors are saying about the topic.  It needs to be long enough to cover the content of the article.  Write your own, do not cut and paste!Assessment:   This is a sentence or more with your evaluation of the article. You may wish to compare it to lecture, the text or voice your opinion about the information.  Be sure to support your case if you decide to side with or against the authors.  5.  Abstracts submitted with a publication date prior to the specified will receive a score of  "0" and not subject to resubmission. If  a date is not indicated, a score of "0" will be posted.6.  You may use internet sites and resources to find your abstracts. If you chose to do so, be sure to check your sources carefully.  Also, you will need to supply the URL with your abstract so that it can be traced. Use caution in that you are abstracting articles and not abstracts.  In order to be accepted for an abstract, you must be abstracting an article. If the URL does not lead to the actual abstract, you will receive a"0" for the abstract since it is not available to the instructor. Use caution with your URL's. If you are using findarticles.com, the url given may not actually lead to the article....be sure you check it. Caution: Sharing of abstracts will result in a penalty for all parties involved. To submit your abstracts , open the Homework section from the course Main Menu. There you will find a link to an assignment for each abstract. Attach a word file containing your abstract and submit your assignment.  If you type your abstract in the Comments Section, you may not be able to Bold your headings and will be docked points for an incomplete assignment if they are submitted and not in bold type.  Once your abstract has been graded, a score will appear and you can check your submission for comments. Your abstracts are to be your summary of the article you chose to read. Many publications supply abstracts of articles they publish, do not use them.If you copy or plagiarize an abstract at anytime, you will receive a 0 on all 16 abstracts. Abstract Example:  Note the format....what is in BOLD and the organization of the abstract  Author:   John Doe    Title: Nutritional Implications of Herbals  Publication:  Herbal MonthlyDate:   July 2008   Volume:  21  Issue:  3 Body:      This is a study that reviews the impact of herbal supplements on the diets of individuals                who live alone.  The author studied………………………. and the cost of those involved. Assessment:   Through this article I learned about the monetary costs and health costs of herbal                                products and how they affect the individual.Chapter Tie: This abstract supports the information presented in the chapter as it relates to the use of herbal supplements and how people are using them.
