In order combat this and to raisemoral in the command recruiting changed. Recruiters where no longer giving amonthly quota which they were responsible for, instead a team quota wascreated for the office as a whole and jobs like prospecting and processingwhere assigned to individual recruiters. This worked to reduce stress levelsand moral went up throughout the command resulting in overproducingrecruitments. Since the initial change production has lowered each year. Thelast two years the commands quota was missed and we are on track to missthis year's quota as well. When an individual was no longer held accountablefor their piece of the overall mission, command lost the ability to pinpointwhich recruiters where the problem. Since we are failing as a whole we arebeing punished as a whole resulting in longer work hours and six day weeks.Recruiting is once again becoming stressful as pressure from higher comesdown onto the recruiter. This will eventually result in a high stress workenvironment once more but this time we are failing in production. Response-80 wordSenge (2013) states, "We all tend to blame someone else–the competitors, the press, the changing mood of the marketplace, the government–for our problems." This goes back to what we discussed last week with the Beer Game. Each person in an organization is part of the same system and it is easy to place blame on others. It is important to have a good relationship within that system in order for it to function. In my organization we have different departments that have very different tasks related to maintining the Army's network. Each department, or section, plays a vital role to the whole system. By thinking as a system we are able to improve communication between departments that rely on each other. For example, one section was responsible for physically installing fiber optic cabling into a new building, however, they did not have a good relationship and communication with the networking team that installs the switches so the fiber connection wasn't activated. A third section was relying on the network being active because they knew the fiber lines were installed but when it didn't work they blamed the network team. If there was a better relationship between the network team and cable team then this issue would have not been a problem.DonQ-140 word- check two responses below and make yoursInstructions: Complete the list in Activity 2.1 on page 16 and post to the Unit 3 Discussion.   Response-80 wordSydnee BurleyI chose # 3 (b). I would "Press forward with the plan but provide more information to the managers in order to convince them of the need for change."I think that being the owner you have to make discussions that are best for the company. Many people do not like change, however ultimately the decision must be yours. Managers that are willing to protest or threaten to quit are bad for your business. You want to know that the people you have in supervisor roles are ready to change when necessary and lead positive examples for the employees they supervise. If the managers are unwilling to change and make the company run smoothly then my next step would be to chose # 3 (C). Replace them with people who are ready and willing to work under direction and make a difference. You are the boss and while people do not have to like the decisions you make they have to be willing to listen to your policy and direction of growth. Replacing old managers with new managers that want to be an asset instead of a hindrance can be good for a new business owner. Response-80 wordI chose plan 3b = Press forward with the plan but provide more information to managers in order to convince them for the need for change.I believe you should not back down from the need to change to the managers but give them the information of why this needs to be done. Every person fears change in one way or another. When you introduce change it is important to get information to the employees and management of the reason to implimit change. I also believe that if you ask the employees and managers for advice on how to implimit the change in the business it will give the employees buy in. When you make employees apart of the change it is easier for them to accept and even possibly get excited about. This has been my expierence in the avaition industry. This industry has to be on the cutting edge of technolgy so change is not only always happening it is expected.ComResponse-80 wordTKIP is a dying encryption method used in Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), which had replaced WEP in wireless LAN products. TKIP is a suite of algorithms that work as a "wrapper" to WEP, which allows users of legacy wireless LAN equipment to upgrade to TKIP without having to replace hardware. TKIP uses the original WEP programming but "wraps" additional code at the beginning and end to encapsulate and modify it. Like WEP, TKIP uses the RC4 stream encryption algorithm as its basis and consequently is vulnerable to a number of similar attacks. The message integrity check, per-packet key hashing, broadcast key rotation, and a sequence counter do discourage many attacks. The key mixing function also eliminates the WEP key recovery attacks.TKIP encrypts each data packet with a unique encryption key, and the keys are much stronger than those of its predecessor. To increase key strength, TKIP includes four additional algorithms: A cryptographic message integrity check to protect packets, an initialization-vector sequencing mechanism that includes hashing, as opposed to WEP's plain text transmission, a per-packet key-mixing function to increase cryptographic strength, and re-keying mechanism to provide key generation every 10,000 packets. While TKIP is useful for upgrading security on devices originally equipped with WEP, it does not meet today’s standards for security. The 802.11i standard specifies the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) in addition to TKIP. AES offers a higher level of security and is approved for government use, but requires a hardware upgrade for implementation. In essence, TKIP is deprecated and no longer considered secure, much like WEP encryption. From January 1st , 2014, the WPA TKIP is no longer allowed for certification. For AP/STA products wishing to support legacy device, they can implement mixed mode with WPA/WPA2 (Bureau Veritas, 2013). ReferencesBureau Veritas (December, 2013). Wi-Fi Alliance will prohibit certifying WPA alone device from January 1st ,2014. Data mining is not just about data queries, but about finding new value in the data as well. Most databases today are “relational” and can be searched via a query using a database management application. Relational databases contain tables that are either stand alone or linked to other tables via “keys”. Looking at figure 2 for example, shows the records contained in the customers table in figure 1. Keep in mind that figure 1, is a small database example. Data mining usually refers to data retrieval from very large databases.Using a database management tool may be great for managing the data but it is not practical in the workplace for users to access the data. Most employees in the company would use a front end application that will query the data for them. These applications do not require database skills to make queries like the database management tool requires. Figure 1. Shows a simple design taken from an MS Access “Northwind” database.Response-75 wordData mining is an information analysis tool that involves the automated discovery of patterns and relationships in a data warehouse (Stair & Reynolds, 2014, p. 157).  Data mining has become important in today’s business world because most companies want to focus on the most important part of their information.  For example, a company who wishes to predict how its sales will do in the future will use data mining to look at past patterns and trends of their sales over the years.  By being able to see the past trends, it will make it easier to predict what something will do in the future.Data mining can also be used to find fraud or theft in a company by searching financial records for trends or patterns that are suspicious.  Or if fraud is not found, perhaps it could find out what companies are charging more for the same product.  Data mining sifts through mountains of data to find a few nuggets of valuable information (Stair & Reynolds, 2014, p. 157).ReferencesStair, M. R., & Reynolds, W. G. (2014). Fundamentals of information systems (7th ed.). Boston, MA: Course Technology. Response-75 wordData mining is an information-analysis tool that involves the automated discovery of patterns and relationships in a data warehouse. Its objective is to extract patterns, trends, and rules to predict or score proposed business strategies, which will improve competitiveness, increase profits, and transform business process. (Stair & Reynolds, 2012). There will always be a necessity for companies to create a competitive edge. In order to do that, companies are starting to look within itself and its partners to find useful data about its customers, which includes recent purchases, recently viewed items on websites, genre or style, and dates purchases were made. This data is then analyzed using data-mining techniques to personalize websites and develop sales promotions targeted at specific customers, all to attract customers and ensure they return (Stair & Reynolds, 2012). You can see examples of this in the iTunes Store (Apple, Cupertino), Pandora, and Spotify. Data Mining also allows companies to evaluate the market and determine when to place specific items on sale in order to improve competitiveness and increase profits. It’s the reason why T.V’s go on sale at the beginning of football season and around the Super Bowl and why grills go on sale in April.Ref: Stair, R. & Reynolds, G. (2012). Since then, our total trade with Canada and Mexico has doubled, Mexico’s exports have shifted to manufactured value-added goods, and American exported services has increased by nearly 75% since 1993. Ultimately, the facts and figures show that there has been a positive economic improvement. Mexico has seen increases in their manufacturing jobs, Americans get cheaper products and are allowed to sell products for less in those countries, and both Canada and Mexico have received cheaper American services and goods that would have been more difficult to provide before the enactment of NAFTA.  So, I say NAFTA has been good.  According to (Hill, 2013) those who opposed NAFTA claimed that ratification would be followed by a massive exodus of jobs from the United States and Canada into Mexico as employers sought to profit from Mexico’s lower wages and less strict environmental  and labor laws.Response-50 wordA free trade region is designed to allow trade to flow more easily within a specific region, all members of the region gain certain privileges and advantages… yet the flip side is that all outside the region do not get the benefits and advantages so are free trade regions based on discrimination and if so should we allow them?  When we created NAFTA we did it in a way that favors America we take the benefit of the trade bloc and we threw out those elements of a trade bloc that we did not think were favorable.  Three elements of a trade bloc are free movement of goods and services, free movement of capital, and the free movement of labor. So by definition NAFTA is not even a trade bloc because we do not allow the free movement of capital or labor (people).  We wanted the best of both worlds... cheaper goods and wider market but no influx of labor... yet has this cause outsourcing? If we do not have a cheap labor pool here will the jobs automatically move overseas?  If NAFTA was a real trade bloc not some ridiculous attempt that fall short on two of the basic foundation of a trade bloc would we have so many jobs going overseas? In this instance did our greed and desire to make a one sided deal come back to bite us?Repsonse-60 wordEmotional Intelligence is defined as “the ability to manage yourself and ones relationships in mature and constructive ways”(Kreitner&Kinicki,2013). Emotional Intelligence or EI affects how we manage behavior, navigate social complexities, and make personal decisions. EI is made up of four core skills that pair under two areas: personal and social competence. It is important to develop these two areas through emotional intelligence because EI affects performance. Talentsmart tested emotional intelligence alongside 33 other important workplace skills and found that emotional intelligence is the strongest predictor of performance, explaining a full 58% of success in all types of jobs”(Bradberry,2014) EI is the foundation of many critical skills that you say and use every day, without it, you lack ability to perform well and become successful in life.Apply one or more of these competencies to a situation in your current or former workplace. Briefly explain the situation and describe how the competency applies to your situationThe competence that I tend to use mostly at work is social competence. I am in the Army and work with a mixture of civilians and military every day. I have to have the social awareness to realize  and accurately pick up on emotions in other people and understand what is really going on.  Civilians do not tend to understand the military life and we cannot simply sit at a desk all day working because we have military training that has to be done. By using empathy, organizational awareness and service, I can manage my relationships with my co-workers better. One situation that sticks out was when my supervisor, who happens to be a civilian complained that me and a few of my other counterparts had to leave work for half the day to conduct military training. She complained that our work would not get done. I showed empathy by looking at the situation from her perspective and talked to her about everyone’s tasks. I let her know that regardless of our training, the work would get done. I let it be known that we would meet the customer’s needs and complete the service. By having the social awareness to handle the situation, there was no problem between us and our work relationship stayed good.References:Bradberry, Travis. 2014. “Emotional Intelligence”. New York, NY:McGraw-Hill/IrwinRepsonse-60 word Emotional intelligence is defined by Kreitner as “the ability to manage oneself and one’s relationships in mature and constructive ways” which consists of four key components that can make up an individual’s emotional intelligence; self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management (2013, pg. 142).  This can be extremely important in one’s career if they wish to gain favor and be able to advance through their career.  I say this because having a high level of emotional intelligence allows the individual to understand, cope, and overcome any issues that may be presented at work, whether it be from a customer, co-worker, or supervisor.  When considering emotional intelligence and the key elements that support such, personal competence encompasses self-awareness and self-management while social competence encompasses social awareness and relationship management (Kreitner, 2013).             Being self-aware is an important aspect of someone’s life, being able to know and recognize themselves from an emotional perspective can greatly assist in self-control which later bleeds into self-management.  These two aspects of emotional intelligence serve great purpose when regarding building a trusting and professional environment in the work place.  I say this because before you can handle issues presented to you by others, you must first be able to understand and control yourself in order to make objective, professional, and accurate decisions, whether it be for a professional or personal venue. Social competence is very important as well.  This is important because it allows us to effectively communicate and build long-lasting relationships with others, whether they be professional or personal.  For example, a person with poor relationship management skills, such as-conflict management, building bonds, developing others, and influence-will more than likely not be as successful in a leadership, or managerial, position as opposed to someone else who is emotionally intelligent and competent with these aspects (Kreitner, 2013).             There was recently an issue at my place of employment with sexual harassment.  The individual who displayed the offensive remarks to the other individual was obviously not too emotionally intelligent nor did this individual have any type of self-control.  Another lacking area for the offender was the area of empathy.  This individual made some personal remarks about what he would do to another individual, in front of an individual who had a known relationship with the individual of reference.  Because of the offender’s lack of self-control and social awareness, a formal sexual harassment complaint was filed against him and he is expected to be terminated from employment once the investigation is complete.  If this individual had more social competence, he would not be in the situation he is in right now. Repsonse-60 wordAs a manager I think job satisfaction would be a top priority for cultivating in employees. Job satisfaction is “an affective or emotional response towards various facets of one’s job”(Kreitner, Kinicki, 2014). Job satisfaction is also the attitude a person possesses towards his or her job.  A person may feel like his or her job is demanding, interesting, rewarding or outright stressful. A person who is happy with his or her job demonstrates a positive attitude about the job. This will lead to better job performance and overall morale at work. Several factors play a key role in how a person feels about his or her job such as emotional intelligence, work conditions, pay, promotions, advancement opportunities, benefits and recognition. These factors correlate directly with job satisfaction and play an important role in an employee’s happiness.ReferencesKreitner, R., Kinicki, A., (2013). Organizational Behavior (10th Edition). New York, NY:McGraw-Hill/IrwinSmith, Gregory. 2014. “How to Improve Job Satisfaction and Increase Employee Engagement”. Retrieved on 17 March 2015.http://www.chartcourse.com/the-pride-system/Repsonse-60 word     As a manager, I would strive to attain employees that were committed to the organization.  Organizational commitment is defined as “the extent to which an individual identifies with an organization and is committed to its goals” (Kreitner, 2013, pg. 163).  I chose this particular attitude due to the fact that if a person were to be committed to the organization to which they were employed, it would be more likely that they experience the other key attitudes as well; job involvement and job satisfaction.  More than likely, to be committed to a particular organization would mean that they generally enjoy the working environment, their managers, and the overall view or mission of the company/organization (Kreitner, 2013).  Also, within organizational commitment are three core components, or types of commitment; affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment.             Out of the three aforementioned core aspects of organizational commitment, I would strive to tailor the employees to attain affective commitment. Affective commitment “refers to the employee’s emotional attachment to, identification with, and involvement in the organization” (Kreitner, 2013, pg. 164).  The most important aspect of this subset of commitment within organizational commitment is the fact that those with this particular commitment stay at work, perform well at work, and enjoy their work because they want to do so, not because they need money or are forced to continue employment because of a lack thereof at other organizations.             This is extremely important to me as I would always want employees who wanted to be at work and enjoyed performing their duties while gaining a sense of satisfaction about the whole process.  These people, in my opinion, are the future leaders, supervisors, and managers of the organization that they are a part of.  Also, I would like to think that those with organizational commitment are both engaged in their work and satisfied with what they are doing as well.  I would also go as far as to say that those who have organizational commitment are more likely to experience the positive effects of the other two, key attitudes about employment.    Kreitner, R. & Kinicki, A.
