UopResponse-100 wordAfter watching this video I can say that my organization hire employees from within the company that is based on what type of potential they see in that person. An employee that was working in our customer service department applied for a job as a financial analyst in a the treasury department and the director and panel members that interviewed her saw the potential. It was said that was one of the best decision that they have made hiring her since she brought so many new ideas and ways to complete tasks that were consider tedious in a simple manner.Hiring someone based on potential you see in them is risky but it is necessary sometimes to take the risk. In this case it was not a risk since it worked out well for the department. The new financial analyst brought fresh ideas and a set of new eyes that was necessary for that department.Well worth the risk in this case.SocsResponse 55 word   I feel that the phone company chose this relationship for many reasons.  Since it is his future father-in-law it could be presumed that he will be the one "giving away" his daughter at the altar.  One would be lead to believe that if the father-in-law did not approve of the relationship that it would make things more difficult for the daughter and future son-in-law.  I believe the young man resorts back to "Mr." and "Sir" out of respect and fear that the father-in-law changed his mind.  Neither party thought the call would drop suddenly since "the last decade bought exponential expansion of communication with modern technological and electronic advances that transcend geographic barriers to provide limitless opportunities for cultural interaction and advancement" (Harvey & Allard, 2011, pg.279).   I have had phone calls drop but never on such a sentimental conversation between soon to be family members.   I graduated from high school in December of 2011, so many of my teachers I still refer to them by their last name and as "Mr." or "Ms.".  Depending on the teacher and how close we were throughout my education, I do refer to some of them by their first name but still have "Mr." or Ms." in front of it.  That may just be a southern thing, but it does not feel right to just call them by their first name no matter how long I have been out of school.                                                                               ReferencesHarvey, C., & Allard, M. You've got to see it!"  Their ad is doing the trick.  They'll remember the cell phone company because they liked the commercial.  I can definitely relate to this situation.  I have been on the phone so many times with my husband and I tell him something and he never replies.  I get angry and think he's ignoring me.  Or if we are having a disagreement and he loses a call I think he hangs up on me.  I saw a commercial similar to this a while back and I remember it very well.  It was definitely an ad that got my attention because it was something I understood and I knew the feelings and emotion this man was going through because I have done it as well.  Response 55 word       I think a cellphone company has used this ‘power relationship’ for its commercial for more than one purposes. First for its own business purpose!  A television ad indicates that this cellphone company is the only correct form of communication, if you use various other cellphone companies you will not get better communication! Then to emphasize public to use only their service that is reliable. Last to educate public regarding power relationship and its consequences.          For example, one of my coworker was promoted to a managerial position, and so many others were still calling her same as they use to before by her first name. Our company recently hired some new graduates who respects her as a manager calling her "Mrs." &  and her lastname, also listen to her well.  I noticed the difference; unit is quiet when new grades are working!  Everyone respects the manager and follow the policies.q-200 wordFrom the e-Activity, analyze the requirements. Provide your opinion on which requirements for filing a bid protest with the United States Court of Federal Claims are justified, which are not, and suggest one additional requirement that would be advisable.Imagine that you have administered a software contract. The work is completed, but the business unit using the software finds a conflict regarding the source code for the program. As a result, the government agency decides not to pay for the services. As the contract administrator, determine the likely result if the contractor files an appeal, and suggest one (1) judicial remedy that might be available to the contractor in question. Provide a rationale for your response.Response-80 wordIn my opinion, the requirements for filing a bid protest with the US Court of Federal Claims is justified when the contract is within a 6 years after accrual of a claim (unless agreed to a shorter period of time). Justifiable submissions are when a contractor were found to actually not be in default or when the default was excusable. The contractor is not justified in filing a bid protest where the contractor is found in default of being behind schedule, or when unable to fulfill orders, and lastly if the contractor doesn’t give a reasonable justification for defaulting. An additional requirement that would be advisable is the contractor maintaining accurate documentation that would support work progress using a work plan and milestone chart to identify cost, schedule and performance matrices.Under this situation, it depends on the terms of the contract and whether or not the contract included software maintenance support after delivery of the software. The contracting officer would need to justify not paying the contractor based on whether or not the government failed to provide the correct source code (technical requirements) to the contractor, and even if found to have done so, the contractor may have provided the “customer acceptance demonstration” where both the contractor and government signed off on the final delivery of the software. The contractor in this scenario, would believe to have not been in default and the government would be liable to pay the contractor for work performed under the requirements of the contract. Response-80 wordIn law, standing or locus standi is the term for the ability of a party to demonstrate to the court sufficient connection to and harm from the law or action challenged to support that party's participation in the case. Furthermore, to bring a protest at the COFC the protesters must be an "interested party". The parties are actual or prospective bidders or offerors whose direct economic interest would be affected by the award of the contract or failure to award the contract. An element of standing when the protester challenges an award decision is that the firm had a substantial chance of receiving the award but for the agency's significant error during the procurement process. Irrespective of whether the procurement was flawed, prejudice or injury is a necessary element of standing. The COFC will consider the plaintiff's plausible allegations and ask whether if they turn out to be correct, the plaintiff has more than an insubstantial chance of receiving the award. Examples of cases that dealt with the issue of "standing" are, Delaney Construction Corp. vs. United States 56 Fed. CI. 470 (2003) and Ceres Gulf, Inc. v. United States No. 10-319C, 2010 WL3511558 (2010).CsuResponse80 wordUnited States Parcel Service is a non-governmental entity, it is an independent branch of the Federal government.  United States Parcel Service coverage includes all Americans, irrespective to demographic and geocraphy. They provides mail, parcel, delivery services to all customers at an affordable price.  USPS stations includes service outlet store that provides one-stop shopping to facilitate outgoing mail services. USPS have opened the channel for customers to communicate changes in their resident and matters pertaining to mail services.   The mail carriers, store receptionists and mail processors are the contributors. They take pride in maintaining the organizational brand and solid reputation.  For years the organization stood by their life long  motto "Deliver mail in the rain, snow, and the dark of night" nothing will the prevent the mail rom being deliver.  Marketing the brand of USPS have become  very difficult over the years with the increasing usage of the Internet and other parcel delivery services. However, the brand is one of the most recognizable  image in American. The employees of the USPS shared a commonality, which is accurate delivery mail to the right person regardless of geographic residence. Inorder to achieved that goal they have to work together in assorting the mail and routing them to the correct location. Employees are working behind the scene in the processing office to facilitate the process for the mail carriers. Recently USPS has started to advertised on a fluent basis. Their current commercial represents their reliability and dependability by offering a pledge to customers; allow us to pick up your parcel from your resident and we will deliver them in a timely manner. This will also have a significant reduction in the overcrowding in the lobby of the service center.Complementarity describes linking advertisements with the audience. USPS is using several marketing strategies to connect to the public. They are using television, fliers, mail out information packages to customers. Another part of the strategy to attract customers are personal stamps that represents hero of the past that customers can relate to. Versatility is based on exposure to the community. USPS  customers can access their websites to request stamps, change of address, postage and many other  base resources. the website is very hepful and and very sipmple to navigate. BakerQ-250 word Class, place your Discussion Question assignments here. Make sure you cite your references.Chapter 92)  How can the WACC be both an average cost and a marginal cost?5)  Suppose a firm estimates its overall cost of capital for the coming year to be 10%.  What might be reasonable costs of capital for average-risk, high-risk, and low-risk projects? Chapter 103)  Explain why the NPV of a relatively long-term project, defined as one for which a high percentage of its cash flows are expected in the distant future, is more sensitive to changes in the cost of capital than is the NPV of a short-term project.4)  When two mutually exclusive projects are being compared, explain why the short-term project might be ranked higher under the NPV criterion if the cost of capital is high whereas the long-term project might be deemed better if the cost of capital is low.  Would changes in the cost of capital ever cause a change in the IRR ranking of two such projects?  Why or why not?Response-80 wordChapter 92)  How can the WACC be both an average cost and a marginal cost?            The WACC can be both an average cost and a marginal cost because it is the cost an organization would incur to raise each marginal dollar of capital and the marginal cost of capital is the weighted average cost of the last dollar of capital raised.5)  Suppose a firm estimates its overall cost of capital for the coming year to be 10%.  What might be reasonable costs of capital for average-risk, high-risk, and low-risk projects?             A reasonable cost of capital for average risk project would be 10%; for a high-risk project it would be higher than the 10%, for example 14%; for a low-risk project, a reasonable cost of capital would be lower than 10%, say 7%.Chapter 103)  Explain why the NPV of a relatively long-term project, defined as one for which a high percentage of its cash flows are expected in the distant future, is more sensitive to changes in the cost of capital than is the NPV of a short-term project.            The Net Present Value is calculated by discounting future cash flows, which involves compounding the interest rate over time.  Therefore, just as other long-term investments are sensitive to interest rates, long-term projects are more sensitive to increases in the discount rate.4)  When two mutually exclusive projects are being compared, explain why the short-term project might be ranked higher under the NPV criterion if the cost of capital is high whereas the long-term project might be deemed better if the cost of capital is low.  Would changes in the cost of capital ever cause a change in the IRR ranking of two such projects?  Why or why not? Most of the long-term project’s cash flows occur late in its life, and those distant cash flows are exponentially affect by a higher cost of capital.  Most of the short-term project’s cash flows come in early, so its cash flows are not hurt as badly by high costs of capital. Changes in the cost of capital does cause a change in the IRR ranking of two such projects.  If the change in the cost of capital applies to both projects then the IRR would change, but if it only effects the short-term or the long-term, the IRR ranking may not change.Response-80 word9-2            The weighted average cost of capital (WACC) is a marginal cost and cannot be an average cost.  Ehrhardt & Brigham, (2013) state that “the required rates of return for a company’s investors, whether they are new or old, are always marginal rates”. The WACC is not the average cost of dollars raised in the past, it is instead the costs the company would incur to raise each new dollar, or marginal, dollar of capital (Ehrhardt & Brigham, 2013).9-5            If the cost of capital for the coming year is to be 10%, then we can use the risk-adjusted costs of capital to classify each category. Therefore high risk projects might use a 12%, average risk would be 10%, and low risk would use 8%, in order to properly balance out the risk-to-reward.10-3            In order to calculate the net present value (NPV) you must first calculate the present value of each cash flow, discounted at the projects risk-adjusted cost of capital. With higher cash flows expected further in the future, the cash flows are subject to greater differences when the present values are calculated. For example, the present value of $10,000 at 10% two years from now equals $8,264.46 = ($10,000 x .826446), whereas the present value of $10,000 at 10% five years from now equals $6,209.21 = ($10,000 x .620921).10-4            A short-term project might be ranked higher under the NPV criterion if there are large cash inflows in the first periods, as there higher present values will offset the higher cost of capital. The opposite could be said for the long-term project with a lower cost of capital, as the present values of the future cash flows will be lower than that of early cash flows, the cost of capital will need to be lower in order to have a favorable NPV. A change in the cost of capital would change the IRR rankings for these projects, if something requires higher capital but offers the same return, then of course your IRR is going to be lower.            Q-200 word"Financial Planning and Agency Conflicts" Please respond to the following:* From the scenario, cite your forecasting conclusions that support TFC’s decision to expand to the West Coast market. Speculate as to whether or not the agency conflict discussed in the scenario could become a roadblock to your conclusions.
