However, it costs a software company more resources in the added development to comply with these accessibility standards. The cost must be offset, or companies that comply with these standards will be at a competitive disadvantage. How can a software vendor use compliance with accessibility standards to increase its revenue?Elisa: The only thing that comes to my mind is to write a program that they can sell that will do (or make it easier) the compliance for other companies.  If there is a page with questions about the kind of software, how it is licensed, who the vendor is, etc. then the program can log it all and the customer can keep all of their software organized.  I would also think it would make a good asset inventory system, because then they could link or assign software to certain computers, etc.Response-70 wordTom: Do you think that in an effort to be compliant, that a company may have to sacrifice some of its competitive advantage?Elisa: I do not understand how it could, unless it was so cumbersome that it added significant manhours, that the company just could not get or keep a handle on.  By offering to make compliance easier on it's customers, they might very well entice additional customers to their products, for that reason alone.  Granted - I do not fully understand what is required of a SW vendor to be fully compliant.  I know that it falls on the end purchaser/user to have the proper license for everything they have - or they can get into trouble, fines, etc. The vendor must also keep these records, or there would be no way to check that the end user has the proper documentation. I am assuming that vendors would have the licenses linked to the purchases themselves.  XYZ company purchased 3 CCC licenses.  It could be as small as another field in the invoicing program.  So, I am just not seeing where it would be THAT hard.  But - I could be wrong :)Q-300 (these all discussion in yellow in total 350 word)Please note that Discussion and/or Critical Thinking questions and responses go in this forum. Keep ethical behavior in mind, and remember that your firm's site could go down at an equally critical time in the future.Response-100 wordDiscussion Questions:1.)    Load testing should be important to any retailer.  A small retailer maybe more so because chances are they don’t have as many stores to get sales from as a large retailer would.  They also need to be able to keep up with the bigger retailers if they expect to be able to compete efficiently.  This means that they would need to take any precautions possible to keep from losing sales.2.)   One website that the college runs (as far as I know) is the online library.  I’ve never had a problem getting into the library so I’m not sure when the load peak would be.  If I were to take a guess I would think that it would be from 5pm – 11:59pm because most online students work 1st shift (from what I’ve noticed), so their schoolwork would be done during that time.  Another site ishttps://carina.baker.edu/solar which is how we access academic, financial, and other pertinent information to our schooling.  I haven’t noticed any issues getting on this site either and I’m really not sure how often a student would access it other than right around the payment due times or financial aid information being in.  A third site ishttps://ol.baker.edu/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp.  This site, before the big switch, seemed like it constantly got bogged down but more so after 6pm.  Now I haven’t noticed any issues, but I would assume that the load peak would be about the same as before. Because there doesn’t seem to be any more issues I would say that they have things pretty well figured out.  However if they are going to continue to take in more students they should continually be aware of their load and make sure to do load testing.Critical Thinking Questions:1.)    First and foremost I would explain to the customers that the outage was unexpected but that we would be addressing the cause and do whatever it takes to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.  This will show them that while it was unexpected it won’t be tolerated and will be dealt with, in other words good public relations.  The next step would be to find out what caused the outage.  Then find out what steps have to be taken to ensure that the found issue won’t happen again.  While these steps are being taken, the company can look into load testing, equipment testing, and making necessary upgrades if they haven’t already been done.  After the issues are fixed, start the testing all over to ensure that the necessary precautions have been made.  I would also recommend that they hire either people or another company to keep track of their systems and load to make sure that they are better prepared.I would offer a limited time sale above what was already being done.  For instance I would have a 4 hour window where prices would be another 25% less than what they currently are.  I could also boost advertising so that customers were aware that we were still there and name of specific products that the customer may be shopping for.  I would also offer prizes/complimentary gifts like for the first 100 shoppers that complete an order will receive free shipping. Response-100 wordLoad testing in absolutely not only important for large retailers, but it is also important for smaller ones as well! Just as quoted in the text on page 361, “there’s always a percentage of business you will never regain if someone leaves the site” (Stair & Reynolds, 2014). So I would say that it is utterly imperative for a website to stay up and running, and to do so, load testing should be done for any sized retailer.   2. List three Web sites that your college or university operates. When does the load peak on those sites? Should your school be concerned with load testing ? 1.       https://carina.baker.edu/solar2.       https://carina.baker.edu/star3.        https://ol.baker.edu/webapps/portal/frameset.jspI would venture to guess that the load peak for each of these sites would be roughly 5:30pm to 8:30pm. This is a common time for people that work/live a dayshift schedule and will be the time they are most apt to work on their school work/post in classes. The school should definitely be concerned with load testing. It is important to know that the school is capable in handling the amount of students and staff needed to offer online learning. They could lose a great deal of students if problems persisted. I would recommend load testing often to make sure they are meeting their needs.   Critical Thinking Questions: 1. Suppose you are the CIO of an e-commerce firm, and your site goes down during a critical period. After the site is operating again, what business steps might you take to regain customer confidence and keep your customers from switching to your competitors? That would be a hard feat, as we know from what happened to both Best Buy and Target during their site loss. However, both of them were able to regain customer confidence again. Offering hassle-free online shopping as well as door-buster type deals would likely regain customers as well as attract new ones. Providing excellent customer service will maintain customer confidence and loyalty. 2. Suppose you’re the CIO of an e-commerce firm, and a competitor's site goes down during a critical period. What business steps might you take to capture some of the firm's customers? Keep ethical behavior in mind, and remember that your firm's site could go down at an equally critical time in the future. Unfortunately for the competitor, this would be a smart time to take advantage of the situation. Customers are going to be looking elsewhere for their purchases, so it wouldn’t be advantageous to just do nothing. I would want to entice their lost customers to my site using promotions and discounts. It would be short-lived so that when the competitor regained their site, our sales would be over (as to not throw salt in the wound).   References R. M. Stair and G. W. Which one would you choose and why?Response-60 wordI would choose the experienced information systems specialist.  I would make this choice for a couple reasons.  The first reason would be because even though they are an experienced business manager with project manager experience, the person may not have experience with your particular product.  As I have seen happen with such a situation, the person pushed for production but didn't fully understand the steps it took to get the final product.  We were making shoes, he had worked with car parts prior.  With an experienced information systems specialist they may see where a system would be beneficial and would know how to implement it.  They would also understand that it takes time to get things to run smoothly, especially under new managment.Response-60 word I would choose an experienced Project Manager. An Experienced Project manager, would know they need to hire a good ISS if the company did not already have one.  But, the knowledge needed for the company to achieve the full implementation of the new system is more important than the ISS who can make the equipment work, and write the programs to do what the Project manager says, but doesn't have the full understanding of the company and what they are trying to achieve with the new system. Q-150 wordClass, what does LIBOR mean? Is LIBOR normally higher or lower than US interest rates? What does LIBOR have to do with liquidity?Response-40 wordIBOR stands for London Interbank Offered Rate.  This figure is based upon five different currencies, the Euro, Yen, US dollar, pound sterling, and Swiss Franc.  The purpose of this is to provide a benchmark interest rate that the world's banks are using for short term loans.  LIBOR is usually consistent with the rate of a 3 month US dollar. The importance of this rate is this is what many financial institutions are using as a basis for their short term loans.  If this rate increases, the company's liquidity could be reduced as the amount of debt that they will have to cover will be slightly higher due to the interest having to be covered as well.Investopedia. (2015). LIBOR. Retrieved from: http://www.investopedia.com.Response-40 word LIBOR is the benchmark interest rate that banks charge each other for overnight, one-month, three-month, six-month and one-year loans. LIBOR is an acronym for London InterBank Offered Rate.  This rate is published at 11 am by Reuters each day.  It's used as the benchmark for bank rates all over the world.  It is published in five currencies: the Swiss franc, the euro, the pound sterling, the Japanese yen and the U.S. dollar (Amadeo, n.d., para. 1).  The LIBOR used to go along with US interest rate and follow the same trends but now they are normally higher than US interest rates due to the financial crisis in the recent past.  Higher interest rates negatively affect stocks and bonds by reducing available capital and creating more attractive alternative investment yields.  Conversely, lower interest rates signal greater capital availability and higher bond prices, thereby boosting the stock and bond markets (Kuepper, n.d., para. 5).  References:Amadeo, K.
