Operation Anaconda Napolean Thomas MLC DL 004-19 Operation Anaconda Operation Anaconda provides input about military joint planning, defense transformation and combat operations. This operation was the largest battle in the initial invasion of Afghanistan after the attacks of September 11, 2001. U.S military planners originally had expected the war in Afghanistan would be difficult and long. But through joint planning of special operations forces, air power and Afghan militias were initially seemingly over whelming. I will discuss Roles, Responsibility and outcomes of Army, Airforce, Marines and Special Forces and how they each played a part in Joint Planning. Army Initially, the 10th Mountain Division was not in the verge of taking part in the fight but as a result of the extensive knowledge of the areas, there was a call for the mountain division to take part in helping the Special Forces and the marines in the fight. Riley (2016) opines that the aim of operation anaconda was to ensure that the leader of al-Qaeda is captured or killed, that the foreign fighters of al-Qaeda are destroyed. In addition, the operation as intended to help in the prevention of any escape of the al-Qaeda foreign fighters and to defeat Taliban forces that were continuously resisting (Fleri et al., 2003). The role of the army was to help in the provision of ground support for the marines. Typically, the army took to the mountain and attacked the enemy lines but was overpowered and was forced to retreat for the air support to provide help. The army was as well tasked with the capture of the key leaders of the al-Qaeda. As such, the team was to take to the ground and ensure that the leaders of the enemy were captured and bought in for questioning and for instigation of charges against them. The army was responsible for the support of the air force in the fight and provision of information on that ground. The process was supposed to be carried out together with the marines and the aim was to ensure that there was a neutralization of the enemy irrespective of the cases or the condition of terrain. The training of the army allowed them to be able to navigate the terrain effectively and with minimal challenges. This played a role in ensuring that there was success seen in the operation. The operation of the army helped in the killing of more than 200 enemy members and this was a critical success that has helped in the use of the operation for learning in various incidences. The forces were able to reduce the enemy territory as well and this ensured that there was the ability of the soldiers to success with the availability of an effective strength for the attainment of success in the management of the standard of operation as adduced by Rosenau, Powell, and Faber (2017). Special Forces The Special Forces were tasked with a mission in the operation as well that ensured that success was attained. In this regard, the Special Forces were supposed to uncover the warfare between the enemy and the joint forces. The role of the Special Forces as well in the operation as to ensure that there was a direct action and that there was special reconnaissance (Kaempf, 2018). The working with other troops is deemed easy for the Special Forces as a result of their ability to work in the improvement of the standard of joining operations with the others. The responsibility that the Special Forces were tasked with in the operation included the offer combat skills that helped in the search and rescue. The forces were as well expected to help in the provision of the rescue of hostages. The tactics that were applied in the combat of the enemy in the mountain were specially acquired from the Special Forces commands. The Special Forces were the lead force in the joint forces for the operation that ensured that more than 200 al-Qaeda and the Taliban were neutralized. The outcome that was seen from the action of the Special Forces included the success combat that was offered and the success attained in scaring away the terrorists that made them flee for those who had not been trapped in the caves by the Special Forces. The rescue operation was as well successful for the individuals and hence helped in ensuring that there was a success in Operation Anaconda. Air force 18th Air Support operations group the role of the group was to ensure that there was an air control element at each of the tasks forces and he was drawn from personnel who had been assigned in the 10th mountain division. The air force was as well tasked with the provision of air support that was timely and that ensure that the life of the ground troops was not endangered. The support operation groups as well ensured that there was an uplifting of the injured members. Air force was responsible for the provision of air support and for the provision of any of the necessary standard air support including the identification of the hideouts of the enemies. The air force was as well responsible for the provision of a standard procedure in which the enemies were assaulted and faced a challenge in movement hence forcing them to hide in caves. This allowed for the marine, the army, and the Special Forces to provide an assault team. There was a rescue and uplifting of more than 80 members of the ground team that were injured. The dropping of bombs was as well helpful in the scaring away of the enemies and there was an ease in the assault by the ground team. This is attributed to the fact that the process helped in ensuring that it was possible for the enemies to be dispersed and the identification of the hideouts were easily identified and the assault team was directed with each for the assault. The air force played a critical role in the support of the team that was in the ground. Although at first the marine and the army were near to the enemy line, it was not convenient for them to release bombs but rather were was a need for management of the process of management of enemy response by the use of shooting. Marine Corps The role of the TF 58 was to provide the doctrinal air and the command as well as the control structure. The air liaison element as helpful for the army brigade to ensure that there was an understanding of the various standard operation in which one will have to follow the necessary standard of operation and the effective management of the issue at hand. The Marine Corps was to ensure that the operation of the brigade was dully carried out in the involvement of the various standard of marine operation. The responsibility of the Marine Corps was to offer help in the seizure of the mountain area and the naval operations to help in the minimization of the casualties in the operation rooms. They were as well helpful in the delivery of tactics and techniques that were offered for the management of the issues of the landing forces to help in the coordination process among the joint team. The tactics were useful for the delivery of the managerial positions that were to ensure that there was an effective management of the issue of defense. There was a success in the operation and this was attributed to the effective and tactical techniques that are offered by the team of Marine Corps. Typically, the coordination of the teams that took part in the process of operation anaconda was to help in ensuring that an effective standard of operation was attained. Conclusion In conclusion, it can be deduced that the success that was attained in the operation anaconda through joint plaining and that there were managerial standards of operation in which an effective coordination to help in the defeat of Al-Qaeda to ensure that there was safety in the operation process. The attainment of the success is attributed to the participation of each of the forces and this has been instrumental in calling for the teamwork that is seen among the soldiers.
