In your final paper provide an overview of what you have learned about race and ethnicity in the context of the American criminal justice system. What are your major “take aways” from this course? What specifically do you now know that you did not know before the course began? Describe the disparities in the U.S. correctional system based on race and ethnicity. Summarize the recent research on racial disparities in the juvenile justice system. Explain what the research reveals about the treatment of youth by the criminal justice system. Compare and contrast the positions that either Systematic Discrimination or Contextual Discrimination can explain the disparities in the treatment of racial and ethnic minorities in the criminal justice system?
