What supplies would you need for such an expedition in terms

You are living in Viking-age Greenland near Eiriksfjord. Eirik Rauða (The Red) himself has graciously given you land nearby, and you now have a farmstead and a bit of wealth. You hear about Bjarni Herjolfsson’s encounter with new land to the west, but his story is short on details. You want to explore and actually set foot on this new land and perhaps set up a settlement there.

· What supplies would you need for such an expedition in terms of ships, provisions, and items to set up a farmstead?

· Which characters from this week's sagas (The Saga of the Greenlanders and Eirik the Red's Saga) would you bring along and why? Bring at least three people. Who would you leave at home and not allow to come and why? Give details about the people you mention.

· How would you go about constructing a farmstead or temporary settlement once you got to the new land? What problems might you face? Use at least three details from this week's readings.
