Critical events in world history, including the Great Depression, WWII, and the beginning of the Cold War, significantly altered American women’s lives.  What changes in government policy between 1929 and 1959 impacted women’s experiences?  In the immediate years after the end of WWII, the economy in the United States enjoyed significant growth.  How would this impact women’s experiences?  How did the prosperity, as well as the Cold War fears of communism, start to change family culture and gender roles?
