Week 3 Lab Exercise

There are two parts to this assignment. First access theCriminalistics Laboratory Manual. You are required to read Chapters 8, 8.1, 9, and 9.1. Then, on page 131, you will find the instructions and materials for the lab exercise. Complete the exercise as directed and submit your lab exercise assignment in the appropriate Dropbox.

MATERIALS: If you do not have a tripod, it is not necessary. However, you will have to ensure that you are standing perpendicular over the impression/print. Also, in the notation in your lab manual, you will see that you can also create a casting of the impression you make and can photograph that as well for submission.

BYOCS Part 1: Case Information

By now, you should have begun to think about the details of your crime scene and the “5 W’s” of the investigation. The case information you will submit as Part 1 will help you formulate basic questions and answers about your investigation that you will explain in detail in Part 3: Case Report. It will also allow your instructor to provide feedback on your scenario (such as whether it is “realistic” or in need of additional info) to help guide you in the right direction. See theBYOCS Guidelines in the Course Home menu for more information.
