Analyzing Representations in Advertising
For this assignment, in 1,000-1,500 words, you will need to complete the following:
Locate an advertisement in any form (e.g., YouTube video of advertisement, advertisement from magazine or newspaper) and discuss how the advertisement portrays a particular group (e.g., women, African-American males).
In your analysis
- Discuss the consequences of the portrayal.
- Explain how the advertisement impacts cultural and social beliefs about that particular group.
- Discuss what media consumers can do to critically analyze similar advertisements.
