DQ1 Advertisers use the reach argument to say that on a per exposure basis, advertising is very very cost effective. Your professor is in strong disagreement with this statement. Can you tell me why advertising on an exposure by exposure basis is very very expensive and not generally cost effective at all?
DQ2 Advertisers say that by using frequency techniques (multiple exposures to a certain advertisement) consumers will be pre disposed to buy certain products. I totally disagree. Tell me why you think that the frequency argument doesn't work anymore? Please see instructor lecture for guidance.

DQ1 Marketers have traditionally spent large amounts of money on consumer advertising and promotion (above the line) to build strong brand loyalty/preference. As competition has intensified, many retailers have begun to push or position their own brands, and pressure the brand marketers for trade allowances and better deals. The brand marketer's profits have begun to slip. The brand marketer now has less to spend on consumer promotions and advertising. The brand marketers leadership position has begun to slip. How can the marketer's dilemma (problem) be solved? What things can be done to retain brand leadership in this situation? Be specific as you apply the concept of Integrated Marketing Communications (especially direct marketing) to a retail grocery store item (i.e. diapers, corn flakes, or laundry detergent).
DQ2 How effective is it when Amazon.com buys space from Yahoo? When any of us launch on to the internet and select Yahoo as our search engine, the first thing we will see is an Amazon.com banner ad. Yahoo receives countless numbers of "hits" per day all exposed (reach argument) to the Amazon.com banner ad. Is this effective? Please explain?
