For this final essay, I will use the book “Their Eyes Are Watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston. I want to use this book and with an application of the feminism methodology. I decided to use this book because throughout she is constantly learning life lessons. She learns lessons that help her grow as a woman and she stands up for herself in her skin as a woman. For this reason, I chose feminism because I believe that’s what feminism in literature is all about. Feminism in literature gives examples of another woman (or women). There are a lot of instances throughout this book where the men show their patriarchal visions where they feel powerful over women, I believe that the feminism criticism in Bressler’s essay touches on.
