The tax system of America in a way is fair because you pay taxes based on your income and the money you pay benefits you and others. It's also not fair because some of the money you pay goes to fundings that are already overly funded. For example, the military, I'm not saying funding the military is bad but do we really have to fund them billions of dollars every year. Some of that money could've gone to education or those who are in poverty. I believe the rich pay way less than the average worker because becoming wealthy gives you many loopholes and deductions on paying taxes. And by owning business, you can also get tax deductions and gain more profits. Increasing the tax rate on the rich won't really do any direct damage because when you increase marginal tax rates, the lobbying gets more powerful for the favored parties.
