The SIOP® Model in your lesson plan

As an educator in a mainstream class,you teach a diverse class that includes a variety of academic and language proficiency levels.

Write a 60- to 90-minute lesson plan for a grade level of your choice and one content area, based on the SIOP^® Model.

Address all eight components of the SIOP^® Model in your lesson plan:

4. Review and Assessment
5. Comprehensible Input
6. Strategies
7. Interaction
8. Practice and Application

Include the information from your Week 2: SIOP^® Lesson Plan Outline (the objectives & sequence explanation) and your Week 3: SIOP^® Lesson Plan Assessment that includes differentiation for levels of ELs.

Develop the lesson plan based on a mainstream classroom population that also includes two students who are Pre-Emergent/Emergent, two students who are Basic, two students who are Intermediate and two students who have recently been reclassified as Fluent English Proficient according to the Arizona English Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA) or use the ACCESS level equivalents.

Write a 350- to 700-word reflection that includes a rationale for the following:

• Selection of ELP standards for the lesson
• Modifications for comprehensible input for the AZELLA/ACCESS levels represented in the class
• Modifications to promote a high level of student engagement and interaction
• Modifications for students' affective needs, cultural backgrounds, and learning styles
• Modifications to organize instruction so that all of your students' needs are met
