Theories to research:
· Attribution theory: Attribution theory is how we attribute feelings and intentions to people to understand their behavior.
· Schema theory: a branch of cognitive science concerned with how the brain structures knowledge.
· Cognitive dissonance: the discomfort a person feels when their behavior does not align with their values or beliefs.
· Self-verification theory: research built on the external aspect of identities that connected individuals to society through roles and groups and gave meaning and connection to those individuals.
· Social comparison theory: involves people coming to know themselves by evaluating their own attitudes, abilities, and traits in comparison with others.
· Social exchange theory: is a concept based on the notion that a relationship between two people is created through a process of cost-benefit.
· Social identity theory: is a social behavior determined by the character and motivations of the person as an individual (interpersonal behavior) as well as by the person's group membership.
· Social-Emotional selectivity theory: as people get older, they begin to perceive their time left in life as more limited.
