IPO Paper Guidelines

Instructions

Select an initial public offering (IPO) completed in the last 10 years in the U.S. capital markets, and discuss and analyze this IPO in 7–8 pages, double spaced. The more recent the selected IPO is, the easier it will be to find the S-1 Report and information on pricing and trading activity on or after the IPO date.

· Each student should select a separate company.

· The last page of the paper should be the bibliography of sources used.

· The best approach for starting this paper is finding the main S-1 Report filed with the SEC before the IPO, showing the IPO date and price on the first page.

· The paper should discuss the following points about the company.

  1. Identify the company and its industry.
  2. Discuss important financial and other facts about the company from its SEC filings, especially the main S-1 Report.
  3. How successful was the IPO in raising capital? How much capital did the IPO raise? How is the company investing the funds from the IPO?
  4. What has happened to the company since the IPO in terms of marketing, production, and other operations?
  5. What is the trend of the stock price of the company since the IPO?
  6. Would you invest in this company now? Why or why not?
  7. Provide a bibliography of sources used for the paper.
