1. "Security Challenges" 

• Distributed applications and cloud computing have become a viable option within the LAN-to-WAN Domain. Discuss the primary challenges related to maintaining the security of both applications and data in such an environment.
• Describe the controls that are needed to ensure the security of distributed applications and data. Identify the auditing approach that you believe is best suited to this arrangement. Provide a rationale for your response.

Pick a short article about a new product or technique based on nanotechnology. In a primary post of at least 125 words, in your own words, describe the product or technique and explain in detail how it works, and why it is considered a “nanotechnology”.

3. "Systems Engineering" Please respond to the following:

• Systems engineering (SE) is recognized as a key contributor to successful systems and an equally important component for SoS (system of systems). Consider the following items based on the reading you’ve done this week. Post your initial response by Wednesday and then return a couple of other days to interact with some classmates. Discussion is where we do lateral learning from our peers as well as vertical learning from the instructor. 
  • Why do you think a plan-driven approach would be used in system engineering rather than an agile process? Do you think there are any particular difference(s) between software engineers and system engineers? Why or why not?
  • Identify challenges you found in the design and implementation of the “System of Systems Software” portion of this week’s instruction. Recommend any suggestions you may have noticed in your reading. If you didn’t notice any, return to your reading and do some research before posting your response.
