Then, Read:

1. Smallwood, Chapter 5, “The Living Dead aboard the Slave Ship” (pp. 122-52)

Then, write a paper which responds to one of the following prompts (Focus your paper on answering one of the prompts. Do not answer all of the prompts):

1. What do you think about the way this chapter was structured, particularly the 2nd half of the chapter? Do you think the way that Smallwood crafted her narrative was effective for conveying the devastating loss of human life on a slave ship? Why or why not?
