Resisting Peer Pressure

The Narrative is an exercise in story-telling. It is the time for the writer to explain to the reader something that has happened to make a lasting impression; and that the writer wishes to share. The narrative is not written in APA style, but still holds onto some of the rules; such as good introduction, supporting paragraphs; conclusion, consistentpoint of view, although it does not have to be 3d person. Since it is a personal narrative, 1st person often works well, but don't shift around. Perhaps the biggest shift from persuasion and research is the need to create sensory stimulation. Remember the 5 senses, Sight, Sound, Smell Taste, and Touch? In the Narrative; let the reader know how you experienced these. Describe the way something smelled, or felt, or sounded. It is even better when you can stimulate more than one sense at a time. For example, can you explain how a birthday cake tastes and how it feels on your tongue?' ,
A Narrative can be written from the context of a memory from long ago. or from an experience that happened last weekend. It can even be written fronthe perspective of something you might like to experience and how you think it will play out, but it should share a lesson, or a moral for the reader, Here are a few potential topics from which you may choose. of course. if you like. you may also use your own topic.
A memorable childhood experience
An entertaining story about a pet
A scary or dangerous event you witnessed or experienced
Resisting or giving-in to peer pressure
A day that changed your life forever
Choose a topic, think about how you experienced that through your 5 senses and write your story.
Create a Draft Narrative based on one of the suggested topics. or choose your own topic to write in the Narrative form.
