Module 1:

In this introductory module, you will gain an overview of production operations, become familiar with a variety of tools that can assist you in developing an overall production management strategy, and examine competitive advantage. Additionally, you will be applying tools to real-world situations.

During this module, we will be discussing project management, product/service design, and strategic capacity management. We will link those disciplines to production operations. You will work with projects, begin you team project for the course, and create a SIPOC and a strategy map; both of these are excellent tools to use in any workplace.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of productivity and competitive advantage.
2. Construct a SIPOC diagram for a process.
3. Develop a strategy map.
4. Appraise how productivity can be measured and tracked throughout a process.
